5 Proven Marketing Tips to Ground Your New Business

Marketing Tips for New Mompreneurs

There are so many myths around starting a business that I wish I knew coming into this.  I mean, after I figured out I can stop trying to be a good mom, then I fell into trying to be a 7-figure entrepreneur.  Ridiculous.  Everyone told me how I could make it big, without giving me the simplest marketing tips or business plan.

Starting a blog or a business is a big endeavor.  I chat a lot about being prepared, but once again I began without preparation!  Somehow, I didn’t think being a blogger was involved as it truly is.  If you aren’t prepared you will not make it.  If you don’t have a plan of how to market your business (and blogging is a business) it won’t matter what your idea is.

Is Starting a Blog Your Business Idea?  You can start with Bluehost for less than $4/mo.!

The Frustration of Online Business and Blog Myths

I have been pretty into the Internet ever since it became popular almost 20 years ago.  I have watched Youtube since it was birthed and since I love to learn about productivity and getting your life organized, it was inevitable that I would find these online business leaders that talked about making money, saving money, living self-sufficient.

So many of the gurus say things like you can make $10,000 a month your first month starting or get a 100k followers by taking their course.  But after you take the course, you still don’t have any followers or maybe a few more than you would have on your own.

Marketing tips for When you feel like your business idea is going no where

How frustrating it is to look at those who are doing astronomically above where you are while listening to what they say and not getting the results.  Plus you can’t even get any real help.  I mean someone taking each step with you, kind of help.

Where are they when you have a question or maybe even when you are done with their course and you post in their facebook group?

That does NOT happen in my blogging group for moms. Join Us!

I have to admit I have reached out to some of the people that I follow and the one who has claimed to be the most friendly and most open and most get-in-touch-able, and I did not get a reply back personally to me.

Then there are others who has taken the time to write paragraphs of information in reply to me.  Even just yesterday I asked a question in a group after the workshop was over and I got a personal reply from the coach in charge of the group.  LOVE!

That’s why I am determined to be the coach that is there, that answers your questions, that keeps in touch and lets you know what’s going on with me, as well as someone that will genuinely listen to your needs.

What’s the point of having a coach or purchasing a course, if you cannot get the help you really need?  Not just shouts of ‘You can make money by manipulating others’.

That’s not fair to you nor to your audience and their trust in you.

5 Proven Marketing Tips to Ground your New Business

Your Why

In order to market your business you have to know your why.  Why are you starting a business, as opposed to starting a hobby or joining a club?  If you don’t know why you decided to start a business you are not going to be there long.

Think about your own purpose in life and your personality. Think about your goals and what God’s goals are for you. He has crafted you uniquely in the way you think, react, understand the world, and how you relate to people.

Mix it all together and you will start to see your why for your business idea.

I’ll be doing a post about how to figure out your business idea if you aren’t to that point yet.  But one great business idea, and it could be a side hustle or full-fledged business, is selling your services on Fiverr where it’s all based on your skills.

So once you figure out what you are skilled at and enjoy doing, then go on there and see if you can find a category for it.

After you sign-up you are able to get customers to pay you for your skills!  Some people make a killing on there without coming up with a blog or printables or anything!

If you know how to make logos, resumes, cover art, youtube thumbnails, fast blog content, or anything similiar you could have a nice income from Fiverr.

Brand Yourself

The best way to market your business is to make it uniform and consistent.

What exactly is a brand? Basically, it’s how your customer or audience views you.

What do they look for when they are seeking you out?

Are they looking for organization?  Trendy?  Humor? Are they looking for femininity or simply a smiling face? Blues and pinks or greens and yellows?

How you make your customer feel is your brand.

Think of some popular brands like Pepsi or Wendy’s or Nike. When you hear the name perception already. Colors or a logo comes to mind.

What you think and how you feel when you think of those companies is their branding.

So you want to brand yourself based on your why and what you are offering. To come up with images and overall consistency for your business.

Profitable Business Idea

Now you know why you’re in business.  You know your skill set which to make your business successful.

But will it be successful?

It will only be successful if have a profitable business idea. You cannot possibly market your business if you don’t know if your idea will sell, or how to sell it. Having a profitable business idea is essentially linked to knowing your customer.

So we’ll move to #4 to link this all together.

Need to make money while you set up your business?  Do Surveys!

Avatar

An avatar is your idea of your target customer or client.  If you are a blogger it would be your target reader that you writing to.  If you are creating a product, then who would want to buy it.

But building out your avatar must go beyond a simple idea like ‘a woman’, or ‘an American’.

We have to really dig down deep to understand that an avatar is as unique as you are and specific as your business.

You need to write down take time to journal and discover who it is that you are targeting. In your journal you can write things like marital status, if they are a parent, what kind of schooling they have, work history, city, state, country, leisure activities, things they like to buy, problems they have.

Now let’s stop there.

Problems they have is a big key. Once you understand who you’re targeting and where they are at in life, physical location, what kind of things they like, and what their problems are you will be able to find your client, customer or audience.

You know if your business idea is profitable if you’re answering your target customers problem.

Transformation

Lastly, to market your business well you need to present a transformation.

Everyone is looking for a change of some type. If it’s a change of clothes, a change of mindset, an understanding of a topic so they can change their perspective, their family or their sandals.  Perhaps your customer is seeking beautiful wall art to change the look of their home or change money situation.

Again knowing how to solve your avatars problem will give you a tip-off if your business is profitable.

If you cannot figure out HOW your product or service is solving your avatar’s problem, then you need some additional insight.

Sometimes an outside opinion is all we need to take our business from the back-burner to blazing hot.
