Monday Routine for the SAHM [Everyday Habits Series]

Monday Routine for Moms at Home

Welcome back to my 7 part series of daily routines for stay at home moms.  If you are looking to create a routine as a sahm, this series will give you more than enough ammo.

Today is Monday.

This is a BIG day.  It’s the start of the work-week when the dads disappear and older kids go off to school. There is a sense of freedom on Mondays for SAHMs – where everyone else may despise or even dread Mondays.  On Monday you can get your groove on!  How you handle this first day can easily create chaos or calm for the rest of the week.

One thing that I tried to keep to over the past 10 years is to stay home on Mondays and Wednesdays. It’s not a perfect solution but I’ve found Monday a good day to focus on the home.

Let’s remember to start the day doing our marvelous morning routine unless you are a mom in survival mode.  This could be if your child is sick or you have a baby 6 months or younger.  In those situations and a few others, just focus on the main points for each day.

Now that you’re up and ready, and your kids are too, here are main points to cover for your Monday routine.

The Trouble with Mondays

Now I don’t want to forget one more thing.  There is something to consider for Monday in particular.

Motivation.

I’m a big advocate for staying encouraged and inspired as a stay-at-home mom.  Being home most of the time can feel very isolating, even when you have mom friends.

So here are a few ways to stay motivated on Monday play when you don’t want to feel alone.

Start the day with exercise

Go for a mid-morning walk

Play cheery Hymns

Watch inspirational mom YouTubers

Put your mind on God’s purpose for you via broadcasts.  Some favorites: Tony Evans, John MacArthur, Revive Our Hearts

Listen to some motivational podcasts like

The Homemaking Foundations

Thankful Homemaker

Morning Mindset Daily

The Daily Boost

Take 5 minutes set a timer you need to and check out Twitter hashtag motivation Monday tweets or bread Pinterest 4 motivational quotes

And don’t forget to keep up with your everyday habits.  That’s what I said easy to do the area stay-at-home mom should deal with to feel normal.

Do these and you will have a successful Monday.
