I Am Tired of Trying
I get it – you feel tired of hoping and trying. Your kids don’t listen, you feel so alone in this mothering thing and you don’t know why you should hope for a better day. And yet, you are reading this blog post. It’s because your hope isn’t dead, just thirsty.
Exhausted by Motherhood
The mom journey is never an easy one, but there may be something you are missing. See, we look around and see other moms doing it all, we think we can too. When you say, “I am tired of trying”, it’s only because you don’t see the full story – that other moms aren’t actually getting it all done.
The fact is that we can’t get it all done, but we race, wearing ourselves out trying to do what the Lord hasn’t called us to do. Pile on top of that ungrateful kids, busy husbands and a lack of a real (offline) social network of moms and women support, well we feel hopeless.
1 Peter 1:3-4
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you…
Jesus called us to a living hope by His resurrection. This is so we can obtain an inheritance. Yes, there is something stored away for us for all of this trial and trouble we endure. I could list all day the types of troubles we are saved from, which would help us with a new perspective. But the fact of the matter is, we just need to lean into this living hope.
1 Peter 1:7
so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ
Daily we are being put to the test. Not to break us but to sculpt us. It’s not something we can escape but something we need to accept so we can walk with new eyes.
How to Prepare Our Minds
Look at each day as an opportunity. An opportunity for you to grow in faith and hope. An opportunity for God to prove you, not break you. An opportunity for you to develop new eyes for your task around you, and to give grace to those you are serving.
1 Peter 1:12a
But I have this against you, that you have left your first love.
