How to Not Give Up
When you are at your absolute bottom of the barrel, how do you not give up? It’s so easy to give up and say, “I’ve done my best not let me out of this!” The problem with this is, it’s almost always the wrong way out. This post explains how to not give up. When we are in the midst of a situation, trouble or hardship, we are there for a reason. Mostly the reasons aren’t seen but giving up is not the answer. So what is the answer?
How to Never Give Up – Not an Option
It’s super easy to just tell you to push through but we can’t possibly without inspiration and knowledge of how and why. Holding on to your why will get you through quite a bit. Why should you want to continue on? Will it help or improve the situation for your family members? Your kids? Is there possibly a solution down the road if you just hold on?
Will the outcome be better if you keep going through instead of taking the escape door? Are you actually getting out – or will you giving up just mean living a life of apathy and laziness? If you think you are getting out but you are actually just saying “I don’t care anymore” – stop.
God made you able to endure even the roughest ups and downs. I know you feel like you are falling apart but don’t quit mentally. In some situations we may have to step back emotionally. Get yourself emotionally healthy, perhaps some counseling, but many of us just need regular time in God’s Word.
Each morning I make an effort to have focused time with the Lord. This morning I read
James 5: 7-11
Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand.
Do not grumble against one another, brethren, lest you be condemned. Behold, the Judge is standing at the door! My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord—that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
What to do When You Want to Quit
- Pray
- Seek Wise Counsel, putting the Word first
- See the Benefits of continuing on
- Analyze Your Reasons for wanting to quit – are you just tired
- Seek Refuge, sometimes we just need time away to build up again.
I hope this was motivating and inspiring to you. We all need a bit of motivation to keep going. I regularly (but not daily) post motivation for moms on my blog, just click on Daily Motivation in the sidebar. My heart is to inspire you daily but your real daily motivation can only come from the Lord. Leave me a comment on what types of motivation you’d like to see here.
