Get Stuff Done
I’ve been asked how do I manage to get stuff done. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been asked this ever since I’ve started my business. Other moms seem to be amazed that I get so much done, since I’m a mom of 3, a homeschooler and also an entrepreneur. When I lay it all out, it does sound like a lot. I’m not saying there aren’t days where I’m scrambling, or even fried. However, there are a few things that keep me afloat.
First, here’s the truth
I gotta tell y’all the truth. You may know that I’m working on my first book for MomLife Organizer. The book is called So You Wanna Be a Stay at Home Mom? and it’s all about how to become a successful stay at home mom.
And even as I’m writing this guide, there are so many things in my own life that aren’t in place. My kitchen has been filled with dishes almost daily. I have laundry in my living room. My kids aren’t having a present mother.
The truth is, I may be getting things done but it’s not always the right things. I’m not even sure what the right things are throughout any given day. The stuff I get done usually doesn’t display a beautiful balance of motherhood and a life on fire.
Maybe it is more of the on fire part! Haha.
But seriously, even with all of my planners, schedules and a determined attitude, I just can’t actually get everything done. So I get stuff done and try to make myself satisfied with that.
What Do I Get Done?
As many things as go wrong in my mothering, there are probably twice as many that go right. It takes someone else looking in and telling me this for me to notice it.
For every dirty dish left in the sink, there is likely a comment, email or text thanking me for my work in MomLife Organizer.
For every unfolded piece of clothing, there are probably several comments from my kids thanking me for the home-cooked dinner I made.
And for every non-present moment with my kids, there is much-needed silence and reflection time so I can recoup. Having times of quiet is just as important as times of activity for introverted moms like me.
I have noticed that during the times when I can just reflect or engage in learning I seem to always come up with the answers to the questions that pester me.
For instance, during a recent quiet moment while the kids were away I realized that I had created several Pinterest pin templates but they were just sitting in my Canva folder.
I had a moment of spark and decided that these would be put to better use by making them available for others as a template, a way to create pins faster, saving time and headache!
If you need a Pinterest pin template you can go purchase these now.
This was helpful for me as I was trying to figure out another method of making a bit more cash. I’m open to support from anyone needing one of those, or you can just donate a cup of coffee to me 🙂
How to Get Things Done at Home
We’ve been trying to sell our car for months now, calculating our bills and investment options, remembering to plan something for my mom’s birthday that came right after Father’s day, switching out my kids’ seasonal clothes and driving them to all of their appointments. Let’s not even mention the pile of physical photos in my bedroom that I still need to organize!
It is possible to stay on top of things so your life doesn’t become full of chaos.
I have written a few posts on how to get things done at home and start getting your life organized. These posts reflect everything I do in my life, or at least attempt to do!
