The Stay at Home Mom Duties List
“That’s because mommy is magic.” When I heard my 8-year-old son say that, I smiled. I realized I was getting the important stuff done. Even though this post is about a stay at home mom duties list, I don’t want you to walk away feeling like you need to check every box in order to call yourself a good mom.
Responsibilities of a Mother
This list of what moms do will allow you to have realistic expectations for a stay at home mom. If you are a new mom I’m sure you are confused about what the true responsibilities of a mother are. This culture is so inundated with knowledge and best practices that sometimes we forget the human element.
We are creatures, creations, that learn, love, and laugh. Yes, there are times when we need to google what the responsibilities of a mother are or search for a list of stay at home mom duties. I get that, I’ve done similar. But don’t forget, never ever forget that you can create your own motherhood.
See, motherhood isn’t about to-dos and getting everything perfect. You can’t do that anyway, so stop trying.
This isn’t about mom shaming. Here’s the real deal:
Even though you strive to be a good mom, you’ll never get to whatever goal you’ve placed for yourself. If you are thinking I’m being harsh, I’m not, I promise. There is a greater purpose to motherhood than you would ever think.

The Purpose of Motherhood
It’s high time I got back around to this topic. MomLife Organizer blog is all about how to organize your life as a mom, but there is a REASON behind all of this life organization.
You will never know your true responsibility as a mom until you realize that you are a person apart from motherhood. You were created with a purpose, to serve those around you (including your kids) but also to serve the Lord, your Creator.
Motherhood is the tool He uses to mold and shape you to be like Christ. And frankly, if you aren’t apart of God’s family and you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, what are you waiting for!? The village is gone. You need someone to help you through this mom life, start with Him.
Influential Role of a SAHM
Ok now back to the mom duties list. I had to tell ya that because it was hard on my heart. Moms have such an influential role in the lives of everyone around us.
Motherhood is the very definition of hope!
We show others by our love and our dedication that life can go on and it will. So you see this list of mom duties I’m about to give you is so much more than tasks that you have to do. Yes, they may be mundane tasks but they aren’t tasks in and of themselves. The duties of a mother are life-giving to our children, encouragement and rest places for our husbands, and doors of hope and care for everyone we affect by their completion.
There are a lot of pros and cons to being a mom at home, but you have to admit, being a change-maker is one of the highlights! Your role goes beyond this stay at home mom duties list. Yet I don’t want to just make you feel good but give you realistic expectations for a stay at home mom, so we’ll go through the list.
